ABOUT US

Our JCC Beacon Program is located at Tottenville Highschool, and offers a variety of activities to engage children and adults in the community. The JCC of Staten Island is dedicated to encouraging unity throughout the community by providing programs that are open to all regardless of race, religion, creed, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation or political affiliation. Everyone is welcome at the JCC.
We are a group of hard working staff and faculty members who bring together children and adults in the neighborhood and provide them a safe place for activities and a place where they have a voice. We welcome everyone into our programs, and we hope to continue to expand our Beacon Family. Our programs are beneficial for the individuals who attend, in regards to teamwork, leadership, unity, harmony and learning new things. We provide programs that allow the children to express themselves and voice their opinion without being judged. Our Beacon Program is filled with individuals who want to help their peers. The participants at our program at THS are individuals who not only want to make a difference, but they are the difference they want to see in their community.
Child Safety
School safety is defined as schools and school-related activities where students are safe from violence, bullying, harassment and substance use. We can guarantee that our Beacon program at Tottenville High School will give your child a safe place to engage in activities with their friends.

Ashley Yelverton
I have been working at the JCC Beacon Program located at Tottenville High School as a Recreational Specialist since 2009. As the Recreational Specialist I create and facilitate recreational activities. All activities are developed to improve social interaction, communication and collaboration skills. During the school year, I am an Adaptive Physical Education teacher at Tottenville High School.

Angela Fazio
I am an Administrative Assistant for the JCC Beacon Program. As Administrative Assistant I help with planning, programming, compliance and making sure staff members have the resources they need to run their programs successfully. A fun fact about myself is that I began my journey with the Beacon Program when I was in middle school.

Brianna DiPasquale
I am the Outreach Coordinator for the JCC Beacon Program. I provide effective outreach to hard to reach youth and young adults in the community, in addition to keeping parents and children updated with upcoming events, programs and announcements. I have been a camp counselor for the Beacon Program since 2010, as well as Co-Rec Specialist. I work with a group of JHS students keeping the community involved and engaged in a monthly Beacon Advance newsletter. I enjoy working with kids mainly because I am a kid at heart, but also because of the relationships I am able to maintain as they attend other Beacon Programs and stay engaged.

Rosalia LoPizzo
I have been working for the JCC Beacon Program for 3 years. I am a 3 year starter on the Varsity softball team for Tottenville, from that you can tell that my favorite program is the Friday night Recreation, as well as other programs that consist of sports such as our Lacrosse Program. My main job at Beacon is to assist kids at any program, this is special to me because I get to build great relationships with all of the kids.

Angelina Spinnato
I am currently a student at Tottenville High School. I am a camp counselor in the summer and assist in after school programs. In addition to that, I also work with elementary and middle school students that take part in weekend activities that our JCC Beacon Program has to offer.

Tahani Hamad
I started working with JCC Beacon this past summer 2018 as the STEM lead teacher. It was a blast! I hold a BA in child development and a minor in psychology. Being able to impact students from all walks of life, and impart lessons that will help mold their little minds to have the ability to do great things in their future, is a passion of mine. I currently teach the “Little Chefs”. A fun fact about me is although I don’t have the best singing voice, I could still belt out a song like no other.

Lena Hamad
I began working for the JCC Beacon program in the 2018 Summer Camp as a counselor for the STEM program. I am currently working in the Little Chef’s program as well this year. I have been working with kids for about 2 years now and can honestly say that it is the most refreshing feeling to see the difference you make in a child’s life even if it’s for a few hours. Creating a fun, calm and educational space for them is very important to me. A fun fact about me is that I am a Virgo and love horoscopes. A few hobbies of mine are working out, binging on Netflix, and cooking!

Dominique Faiella
I am a camp counselor for JCC and I help with any organizing and support that is needed for assistance. I mainly work with the kids to watch them learn and grow while they are in any of the programs I work for. There is always something to look forward to while working at JCC, so it is easily motivating to work here.

Mustafa "Moose" Hamad
I first started in the Beacon program in the 2018 Summer Camp and am best known as Moose. I am currently a Junior in Tottenville High School. I enjoy playing sports and running. The best things about working in this program are keeping the kids’ energies and spirits high, making sure they come in and leave smiling and laughing and overall having a fun time.
